Chase Sequence

Chase Reflection

The scope of this video was a supposed to show a student who is unwilling to do their homework, but, the homework is chasing the student, therefore, the student must run away or they will be forced to do their homework.

The idea was not very serious, we were joking around, we were basically just putting out any idea and hoping that it would shine through, but then ideas were popping out of nowhere, saying, 'Oh if the character runs this way, then the homework will be right there and scare them!". It was more of a 'funny' video, but then I thought about it, and realized that this could possibly make a thrilling and intense filled video with a side of humor. The actor in the video helped create the idea and pushed to follow through with the idea. The creation was a very simple project, we used scenery that was close to the classroom and significant to the storyline, the only difficultly we faced was attempting to get the Go Pro to work. It was a small battle, but we finally got some shots. Though, some shots gave headaches, so we had to use a minimal amount that we actually shot. The editing was very simple, we attempted to film the shots in order and only got what we needed, so the shots were easy to edit and simple to place in order.

I learned that even though the shot might seem right and in order, the story makes the decision if the shot works or not, not the editor, which gave me a bit of trouble trying to make the story flow with the scenes. I also learned how to change the pace of a scene, one if the scenes was too slow for my liking, so I sped it up a bit to make the length of the shot just right and still held the viewers attention. The actor in this production, was as well a producer at my side, telling me which shots she thought best and when I would think a shot was good, she would tell me otherwise and point me to which shot she felt was better. To be honest, her shot and angle ideas exceeded my thoughts. The deadline wasn't much of an issue since we were close to done a couple days before the deadline even dared to show it's face.

I would try to get a lot more shots and maybe try to go to new areas instead of the small place where we shot. I would like to do that mostly because it would give a new perspective on things and give the viewers more of an idea where the character is and what the character is doing.

I really enjoy the expressions and the close up of the face shots, I thoroughly enjoyed the Go Pro shot that Lilly shot, I was very ecstatic when she said that she could bring in a Go Pro. Though, I wish the shots with the Go Pro weren't so headache inducing.

I would love to use the Go Pro once more to take some shots for my next project though I probably won't be able to due to not owning one, but that just gives me one more reason to get one. I would also enjoy getting more shots and more interesting shots that would really put the viewers on the edge of their seats.

This project was just a joy to create, the most fun project I've had by far! I am in love with this class and most possibly will attempt to fall into Video Production when I reach my college years.
